      Hi sayna

There are actually man different ways of talking about parts of the brain, generally it’s easiest to think about it as four big lobes (the frontal, the parietal at the top, the occipital or vision at the back, and the temporal at the bottom) and the internal structures like the basal ganglia and then the Brainstem and cerebellum. Each part has its own responsibility, check out this website (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lobes_of_the_brain).

Another kind of classification was developed by a man called Brodmann, check out this website (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brodmann_area). This might seem a little like overkill but it can be important to define which parts of the brain do what when it comes to studying brain damage. Believe it or not I spent a whole year and wrote a ten thousand word report on only area 37!!

      Jen
