Strictly speaking I don’t study the brain, but i’ve been doing psychology since ALevel. When I did my degree I did learn about all the sections of the Brain but my area of interest is how technology can support people to learn in schools.
Since A-levels when I studied Psychology, but only in the last four years have I had a chance to deal with the brain itself in my scientific research. During my Masters degree I actually got to dissect a human brain which was pretty cool, and nowadays I get to work with pretty cool technology like MRI machines (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_resonance_imaging) and electroencephalograms that measure brain waves (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electroencephalography)!
I’ve been studying the brain since I was doing my undergraduate degree. I started by learning about all the different diseases the brain can get and how we treat these diseases. I was really interested in the brain so I went on to study for a Masters degree in Neuroscience. As part of this I did a big project on memory and this lead me in to doing my PhD where I’ve combined learning about the diseases that people get and the effects that these diseases have on the brain and in particular, the effects that they have on our memory! So I’ve been studying the brain for nearly 6 years now!
