Certainly, because phones are just computers and almost any computer can be controlled by any other computer if you want it to, the phone could always control the robots if we wanted. In my work, however, I try to avoid telling the robots how to do anything, they have to work that out themselves, they just have an aim (to get over a crack in the floor, for example), this is where the thinking moves from our brains (when we control them using a computer or phone) to the robot’s `brain’ (when they control themselves and have to work out what they’re doing themselves).
Hi Raytheking52 – I don’t create robots in my work but we do look at how people interact with technology and some of what were doing now is finding ways of making our tools work on all devices by making them run from web browsers rather than needing specific software which might be only iOS or android compatible. It’s really important to try and future proof things as in the future there might be a whole new operating system to think about!
