      Hi shemz

This is to do with our basic biological makeup, to create a baby you need something from both a man and a woman – the sperm and the egg. A girls period or menstruation is when the egg is formed and hasn’t been used to make a baby so the body needs to dispose of it to make space for the next one! The eggs come from ovaries, there are two, and travel along to the womb where if its met by sperm it will create a baby. Periods can start at very different times for different girls, some as early as nine years old and some as lat as eighteen, but this is a natural difference to do with the body and doesn’t change anything about who you are.

      Hope this helps 🙂

      Jen
