      Hi coxhc02,

I started off looking at the brain a few years back because of a concept in computer science called artificial neural networks (which are based on the brain, but bear very little resemblance to it). As I dug deeper and deeper into how the brain works, I realised that it was working in a very similar way to how we build controllers for our robots (in that we have external stimuli, such as light or sound, and these need to be converted to control the robots in some way). As such, it made sense to start looking at the brain from this perspective, and as a result, I started looking at how self-awareness and cognition emerge from the interactions between neurons.
